In a Nutshell

I am on the process of writing a publication from the Thesis and decided to list down a short bullet list about the whole project.

Research question:

“How does the awareness of racial bias affect the design process?”

Aim:

That the reader can reflect on their own design practices and adjust them accordingly to reduce the amount of negative racial stereotypes in their concepts.

Objectives:

1. Identify racial stereotypes in the concepts
2. Analyze the source of the racial stereotypes
3. identify how awareness of the above mentioned affects the design process

Methods:

• Content analysis of the artefacts using stereotype content model ( Fiske et al. 2002)
• Field notes and autobiographical memoirs composed into an evocative personal narrative
• Comparison to broader cultural context
